SHED LIGHT ON THE POSSIBILITIES |
These simple yet dramatic “sheds”, based on Native American designs, recently received the 2013 Metal Construction Association Chairman’s Award for Overall Excellence. The buildings are part of a satellite campus for Central Arizona College, and use a unique mix of naturally oxidizing Corten siding panels and metal standing-seam roof panels painted a faux-rust hue. You can see that with metal, the possibilities are endless.

PANEL DISCUSSION |
Let’s talk. Insulated Metal panels, or IMPs, not only help architects and building owners lower initial construction cost, but also energy and maintenance costs over the life of the building. Dramatic looks can be achieved with IMPs as well, as seen in this photo of University of Phoenix Stadium, home of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals.

SIGN OF THE TIMES |
This minor league baseball stadium sends a clear message: metal provides many creative options for architects, designers, and engineers. Clad in metal, Regions Field in Birmingham, Alabama was named Ballpark of the Year by Baseballparks.com. No wonder. The metal facade serves the dual purpose as a dramatic sign, providing a visual “shout out” to the world. The towering letters are cut with a unique, inside-out effect. Plus a perforated screen wall helps limit sunlight exposure to the interior and creates a WOW visual effect.
